WORKSHOP January 28, 2017 - Make Your Own Designer Series Paper

Ever wonder if you could make your own Designer Series Paper?   Well, that's exactly what my workshop members did.   They stamped their own Designer Series Paper using the Stamp Set:  Blooms & Wishes.   There is an endless varieity you can do making your own.   Something to consider when choosing a stamp set, use 3 large stamps and 3 smaller stamps.   This way you can fill in all the gaps and make the design more interesting.

Make Your Own Designer Series Paper

IMG_1847

  • Stamp Set - Blooms and Wishes
  • Card Stock - Whisper White 12"x12".  Flirty Flamingo 11"x4 1/4".  Peekaboo Peach 11"x4 1/4".  Tip Top 11"x4 1/4".  Scraps of each card stock for message.
  • 4 Whisper White Envelopes; stamp back flap
  • 10" Ribbon
  • Measurements for tags:  darker shade 2"x 2 3/4"; medium shade 1 3/4"x2 1/2"; Whisper White 1 1/2"x2 1/4"
  • Rhinestones or Basic Pearls.
  • Directions:   Decide on a color for each stamp and start with the larger stamps.  Vary the color by shadow stamping and over lapping the edges of the paper.   Be fearless in your stamping, the design will come together and will look great when you cut it and tape onto the card stock base.  I have a diagram below of how to cut  and score your DSP.   I used the 1" paper by cutting it in half and taping it to the bottom inside of each card.   The box is formed by scoring 1" around the 12"x4" paper and scoring at 5 1/2" and 6 1/2".  Cut little, tiny slits to give the box some room for bending together.   Tie with ribbon the secure shape.

Workshop December 10, 2016 Summary - Part 2 of 2

Every year I enjoy sharing this holiday workshop dedicated to making 4 different cards.   One for Jesus.   One for Fun.   One for Peace.  One for Thanks.   The cards were fun for the workshop attendees and they all took home lovely, usable cards to share.

On two of the cards, I chose not to add more color because I thought the stamped figures were just perfect the way they were.  If you would like to kick up the design a little, I recommend adding Wink-of-Stella Gold on head areas or color the figures in completely.   You could highlight the mice presents with gold as well.

Card for Peace     This one is special for a table decoration and as a little bread & butter gift to a hostess during the holiday.

IMG_1895

  • Stamp Set - Jar of Cheer, Jar of Love
  • Framelits - Everyday Jars
  • Embossing Folder - Woodland
  • Card Stock - Tip Top Taupe - 11"x4 1/4", score at 5 1/2", 2 3/4", and 5 1/2"x4 1/4".    Cherry Cobbler - 2 1/2"x1".       Very Vanilla 1 3/4"x1".  Vellum - 2 1/2"x4".
  • Adhesives - glue dots, Tombo Glue, Dimensionals
  • Wink of Stella - Gold
  • Ink - Black Stazon, markers in yellow, green and red
  • Rhinestone
  • Directions:  stamp the jar and candle image on the vellum; sit aside to completely dry.   When dry, use the markers and wink of stella to add color to the candle.   Using the jar shape frame lit, place the 5 1/2"x4 1/4" card stock on the scored card stock base.  Cut the jar in the middle of both pieces of card stock.   Stamp message below jar outline of 5 1/2"x4 1/4" sheet and add Woodland embossing image.   Glue dot the vellum on the inside and use Tombo glue on only lower half of sheet of folded down card base.   I used the stamp "You Light Up My Life"  from Jar of Love on the Cherry Cobbler piece and placed it to hold back the jar image and leave enough room for a battery tea light.   The place holder needs 4 dimensionals to raise it up to hold the jar candle image in place.
