Paper Crafting Projects

Life In a Box - Workshop May 20, 2017

Usually my workshops focus on making a card using a stamping technique.  But I attended a Stampin' Up! demonstrators workshop a few months ago and figured out how to make framed display boxes.   I saw all kinds of possibilities;  flowers, butterflies, seasonal messages like Christmas, Fourth of July, etc.   But this one is a message of perseverance and finding  joy in our lives.

The method of making the framed box and the stand supporting it from behind, is difficult to describe on a blog.  I did provide my workshop attendees with detailed directions and I can do so for you if you will email me or reply on a blog comment.   The fee for the instructions are $5 and includes postage.   This is a challenging paper craft project but worth the effort.   I made one of these with my 14 year old niece over the weekend and did turned out lovely.

WORKSHOP January 28, 2017 - Make Your Own Designer Series Paper

Ever wonder if you could make your own Designer Series Paper?   Well, that's exactly what my workshop members did.   They stamped their own Designer Series Paper using the Stamp Set:  Blooms & Wishes.   There is an endless varieity you can do making your own.   Something to consider when choosing a stamp set, use 3 large stamps and 3 smaller stamps.   This way you can fill in all the gaps and make the design more interesting.

  • Stamp Set - Blooms and Wishes
  • Card Stock - Whisper White 12"x12".  Flirty Flamingo 11"x4 1/4".  Peekaboo Peach 11"x4 1/4".  Tip Top 11"x4 1/4".  Scraps of each card stock for message.
  • 4 Whisper White Envelopes; stamp back flap
  • 10" Ribbon
  • Measurements for tags:  darker shade 2"x 2 3/4"; medium shade 1 3/4"x2 1/2"; Whisper White 1 1/2"x2 1/4"
  • Rhinestones or Basic Pearls.
  • Directions:   Decide on a color for each stamp and start with the larger stamps.  Vary the color by shadow stamping and over lapping the edges of the paper.   Be fearless in your stamping, the design will come together and will look great when you cut it and tape onto the card stock base.  I have a diagram below of how to cut  and score your DSP.   I used the 1" paper by cutting it in half and taping it to the bottom inside of each card.   The box is formed by scoring 1" around the 12"x4" paper and scoring at 5 1/2" and 6 1/2".  Cut little, tiny slits to give the box some room for bending together.   Tie with ribbon the secure shape.

MINI MUSLIN BAGS

I was recently on an out of town trip and purchased some fragrant soaps.   They make great little gifts for family members to let them know you were thinking of them while away.   Stampin' Up! has these small muslin bags which are totally stampable, 100% cotton with a drawstring closure, sized at 4"x5 1/2".   MINI MUSLIN BAGS (#132180)  Here's the ones I made and wanted to share the idea with you.

I used the stamp set CRAZY ABOUT YOU (#138859) for the green leaf and words FOR BEING YOU.  The berries are created with SPONGE DAUBERS (#133773).  The stamp ink colors I used were Real Red, Wild Wasabi, and Blackberry Bliss.
